Hi. My name is Simon. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 16 years of age and am now 36 (my goodness how old). I’ve never taken a lesson and am completely self taught. I don’t read music. I sing, play blues harmonica, violin and keyboard. Some of the keyboard on this music is played by my good friends Lara Leuw & Paul Gardiner, bless his soul. Some of the tracks where made up as we went along (and the lyrics as you will find out) and had no mixing, editing or punching in. Very much as we would play a live set, but unrehearsed! Others where done at my home studio using Cubase 5VST, Such as Love/Hate and Vixxy. The tracks will be changed around approx once a Quarter so keep on logging on.

Simon Devlin (USA Kramer) & Paul Gardiner (Korg Triton) @ P.G's Studio (2000).

Influences include Joe Satrani, Jeff Beck, Angus Young, Ritchie Blackmore, Frank Marino, Duane Allman, Robin Trower,  Edward Van Halen, Johney Winter, Billy Duffy, Billy Gibbons, Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Yngwie, Steve Vai, Hendrix, Yakamoto, Prince (yes really, he is awesome live) and my father.

Si using Gibson Les Paul Custom & VHT Pitbull Ultra Lead  (2005).            Cyclone with EMG's  (2005)            Si using Musicman & Fender Cyber Twin (2003).

I have a Musicman Silhouette, Kramer focus 6000, a Cyclone with a changed EMG twin humbucker, a hohner acoustic, Tanglewood 4K Rebel bass, a scaled down Fender Jazz Master copy bass, an Ibanez bass, a westfield accoustic, an AXL strat with a Seymour hotrails and a Dimarzio, an LP copy with Gibson 490 & 498's and Gibson hardware, a very crappy nylon acoustic and borrowed an Ovation acoustic for some of the demos on this site. My main live rig is a VHT Ultra Lead with a Rocktron Voodu Valve rack unit. I keep the pedals simple with a Morley wah (Mark Tamoli) and a Boss DD3. I use an AKG radio pack that lets me wander amongst the crowds. I have also used a Fender Cyber Twin with midi foot controller for some studio and all my  old live work upto the end of 2004. I also have used a Korg Pandora PX2 as an effects unit running either into a Fostex X-26 4 track or into an 8-way mixer and on to a hi-fi cassette deck when taped at Paul's studio (e.g.. Surfing With Si). An Alex Digital Effects rack unit or VST effects with either a Stagg Pro Studio mike, a good old SM58 Beta or an Audio Technics Mic where used for the vocals. I have also used a Marshall stack for live gigs but prefer the VHT as its a lot raunchier and sounds fab.

As from 2006 my new band is called Mister-Pink. Their web site is at www.mister-pink.co.uk. Paul Uses either a Yamaha SY55, SY77, Roland JV1080, Korg X5DR, 2xKorg 05R/W, Rebirth, Cubase VST, Reason and mainly a Korg Triton. I either play with Paul's synths, my Technics KN650 or through the keyboard into a midi compatible device on the PC. I use a "home made", P4 3Ghz, 460Gb, 1G DDR with a Midi man 24/96 sound card. The samples are from Computer Music magazine.
